A NATURAL PRODUCT to INCREASE STEM CELLS

ROYAL MEDICAL GROUP (“RMG”) has a natural supplement it uses to increase circulating stem cells for RMG patients.  This product has been tested in animals (e.g., horses) as well as humans and found to increase circulating levels within hours after ingestion.  In humans, the peak level of stem cells in the blood occurs at about 90 minutes.

This increase in circulating levels of stem cells in the blood allows RMG to harvest, activate, and return these autologous cells to RMG patients for the treatment of a variety of conditions.  RMG has seen much improvement with its autologous stem cell approach in such conditions as COPD, MS and Cerebral Palsy, although it can be used for anti-aging purposes as well.  This is because true stem cells will replace old, damaged, and dying cells.  Eventually, if enough cells are used over time even age can be reversed.

The key for stem cell success is either providing the body with high enough numbers of cells to have an effect and/or in delivering such cells where they are needed.  However, true stem cells have not yet differentiated.  Many of the current methodologies in harvesting stem cells (e.g., bone marrow, fat) are obtaining mesenchymal cells, which are a type of progenitor cell that has already begun differentiation and thus, will become cells used for joints, heart, etc. but not brain and other organs (e.g., liver, pancreas, etc.).

Nevertheless, there are still some true stem cells that can be found in the potpourri of cells from bone marrow and fat tissues.  This is because stem cells are produced in all cells of the body except one: articular cartilage.  Further, these true stem cells are in much smaller numbers in bone marrow and fat tissue than can be found in the blood from taking the RMG supplement.  As an example, the RMG stem cell product will typically produce circulating stem cell levels between 1-5 billion cells.  Compare this number with 200,000 cells in fat tissue and 10,000 cells in bone marrow that may be obtained from an average harvest.

As a rule, RMG requires its patients to take the stem cell product for at least 30 days before it will consider doing an autologous stem cell treatment.  So, for those of you who are taking, or desire to take, the RMG supplement, here are the instructions:

  1. Take one capsule daily X 1 month; then
  2. Take two capsules daily X 1  month; then
  3. Take three capsules daily X 1 month; then
  4. Take four capsules daily.

Multiple capsules can be taken either all at once or in divided doses.  Variations from the above regimen can be done after consultation with the physician.  Interestingly, many patients have experienced improvements just by taking the supplement.  Here’s what some such patients have reported:

  1. I am able to golf again and do it without using my oxygen” (COPD Patient).
  2. I am no longer depressed” (Menopausal Patient).
  3. “I am thinking more clearly and reading better” (Elderly Patient).
  4. “My heart function has improved” (Cardiac Patient).
  5. “I am not dragging my feet anymore” (Parkinson’s Patient).
  6. “My son is speaking and moving more than ever before” (Mother of Cerebral Palsy Patient).

SAMe is for Moods, Joints, and Liver!

[Below is information taken from a July 1999 article in Newsweek and republished]

SAMe (known formally as S-adenosylmethionine) is not an herb or a hormone. It’s a molecule that all living cells, including our own, produce constantly. To appreciate its importance, you need to understand a process called methylation. It’s a simple transaction in which one molecule donates a four-atom appendage—a so-called methyl group—to a neighboring molecule. Both the donor and the recipient change shape in the process, and the transformations can have far-reaching effects. Methylation occurs a billion times a second throughout the body, affecting everything from fetal development to brain function. It regulates the expression of genes. It preserves the fatty membranes that insulate our cells. And it helps regulate the action of various hormones and neurotransmitters, including serotonin, melatonin, dopamine and adrenaline. As biochemist Craig Cooney observes in his new book, “Methyl Magic,” “Without methylation there could be no life as we know it.”

And without SAMe, there could be no methylation as we know it. Though various molecules can pass methyl groups to their neighbors, SAMe is the most active of all methyl donors. Our bodies make SAMe from methionine, an amino acid found in protein-rich foods, then continually recycle it. Once a SAMe molecule loses its methyl group, it breaks down to form homocysteine. Homocysteine is extremely toxic if it builds up within cells. But with the help of several B vitamins (B6, B12 and folic acid), our bodies convert homocysteine into glutathione, a valuable antioxidant, or “remethylate” it back into methionine.

SAMe and homocysteine are essentially two versions of the same molecule—one benign and one dangerous. When our cells are well stocked with B vitamins, the brisk pace of methylation keeps homocysteine levels low. But when we’re low on those vitamins, homocysteine can build up quickly, stalling the production of SAMe and causing countless health problems. High homocysteine is a major risk factor for heart attack and stroke. During pregnancy, it raises the risk of spina bifida and other birth defects. And many studies have implicated it in depression.

How, exactly, might taking extra SAMe improve a person’s mood? Researchers have identified several possibilities. Normal brain function involves the passage of chemical messengers between cells. SAMe may enhance the impact of mood-boosting messengers such as serotonin and dopamine—either by regulating their breakdown or by speeding production of the receptor molecules they latch on to. SAMe may also make existing receptors more responsive. These molecules float in the outer membranes of brain cells like swimmers treading water in a pool. If the membranes get thick and glutinous, due to age or other assaults, the receptors lose their ability to move and change in response to chemical signals. By methylating fats called phospholipids, SAMe keeps the membranes fluid and the receptors mobile.

Whatever the mechanism, there is little question that SAMe can help fight depression. Since the 1970s, researchers have published 40 clinical studies involving roughly 1,400 patients. And though the studies are small by FDA standards, the findings are remarkably consistent. In 1994 Dr. Giorgio Bressa, a psychiatrist at the University Cattolica Sacro Cuore in Rome, pooled results from a dozen controlled trials and found that “the efficacy of SAMe in treating depressive syndromes… is superior [to] that of placebo and comparable to that of standard… antidepressants.”

This isn’t the first natural substance to show promise as a mood booster. Small studies suggest that St. John’s wort can ease low-grade melancholy, but SAMe has been tested against far more serious disorders. In one of several small U.S. studies, researchers at the University of California, Irvine, gave 17 severely depressed patients a four-week course of SAMe (1,600 mg daily) or desipramine, a well-established antidepressant. The SAMe recipients enjoyed a slightly higher response rate (62 percent) than the folks on desipramine (50 percent).

Could SAMe also provide an alternative to anti-inflammatory medications? In a dozen clinical trials involving more than 22,000 patients, researchers have found SAMe as effective as pharmaceutical treatments for pain and inflammation. But unlike the NSAIDs, SAMe shows no sign of damaging the digestive tract. And instead of speeding the breakdown of cartilage, SAMe may help restore it. You’ll recall that after giving up its methyl group, SAMe becomes homocysteine, which can be broken down to form glutathione (the antioxidant) or remethylated to form methionine (the precursor to SAMe). As luck would have it, the reactions that produce glutathione also yield molecules called sulfate groups, which help generate those joint-sparing proteoglycans.

When German researchers gave 21 patients either SAMe or a placebo for three months, using MRI scans to monitor the cartilage in their hands, the SAMe recipients showed measurable improvements. That wouldn’t surprise Inge Kracke of Cologne. She was an active 48-year-old when a 1996 auto accident mangled her left knee and left her hobbling on a cane. Dr. Peter Billigmann of the University of Landau prescribed a regimen that combined SAMe (1,200 mg a day for three months) with injections of hyaluronic acid, a cartilage component. Cartilage injuries don’t normally heal, but a year later Kracke’s knee looked better on X-rays. She now plays golf three times a week.

SAMe may have other benefits as well. Studies suggest it can help normalize liver function in patients with cirrhosis, hepatitis and cholestasis (blockage of the bile ducts). SAMe has also been found to prevent or reverse liver damage caused by certain drugs. As patients hear more about this supplement, they may try treating themselves for all these conditions and others. But many of them will be disappointed—either because they expect miracles that SAMe can’t deliver, or because they take the wrong dose or form.

Experts advise taking SAMe twice a day on an empty stomach, but different people may require different amounts. Though studies suggest that 400 mg a day is an effective dose for arthritis, the daily doses used in depression trials have ranged as high as 1,600 mg. Clinicians generally start people with mood problems at 400 and ratchet up as necessary.

Unfortunately, there is no convincing evidence that SAMe can make healthy people happier or more mobile than they already are. But there are lessons here for everyone. We now know that methylation is vital to our well-being. It’s equally clear that the modern Western diet—rich in protein, light on the plant foods that supply folate—is a prescription for stalling that vital process. “SAMe works as a medication to treat certain diseases,” says Paul Frankel, a biostatistician at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, Calif. “But for most people the problem is undermethylation of homocysteine.” In other words, many of us could arm ourselves against low moods, bad joints and weak hearts simply by upping our intake of B vitamins. That may sound less exciting than taking a miracle supplement. But with luck, it could keep you from ever needing one.

DIRECTIONS: A typical adult dose of SAMe is between 800 to 1200 mg daily.  You may want to start low and increase until desired effect is noted.  However, if using in conjunction with prescribed medications (e.g., Prozac, Paxil, Celebrex) then reduce SAMe dose to 400 mg to 800 mg daily.

NOTE: SAMe can cause some upset stomach in some individuals, especially if taken on an empty stomach of in higher doses.  If this occurs, consider reducing dose until better tolerated before increasing again and/or taking with food.

ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS AS A MEDICAL ALTERNATIVE

For those who aren’t familiar with the ONDAMED, you should be.  The term, “ONDAMED”, is Latin for “wave medicine”.  It is an interesting device developed in 1993 by Rolf Binder, a German Electrical Engineer, that uses pulsed electromagnetic fields for the treatment of human conditions.  The frequencies range from 0.1 to 30,000 Herz.  Since its development in 1993, many frequency programs have been created for the treatment of a multitude of medical conditions with good success being reported from ONDAMED practitioners around the world.  This non-invasive therapy uses biofeedback from the pulse of a patient to determine what frequencies are in need of being treated.  Such frequencies may be adversely affecting the patient’s health condition and thus, are in need of being neutralized and/or eliminated.

Essentially, the ONDAMED has four different modules that can be used for patients as follows:

MODULE 1: Patient’s own frequencies are tested and treated.
MODULE 2: Specific protocols may be used for a variety of conditions.
MODULE 3: Micro-organisms may be tested and treated.
MODULE 4: Nutritional deficiencies may be tested and treated.

What’s most interesting is that the ONDAMED may be used to help with addictions, such as smoking, with a protocol that has been found to be highly successful.  This protocol is part of an ongoing research study in which ONDAMED practitioners may participate.  Addictions may also include foods, such as sugar.  Here’s a quote from Silvia Binder, an ONDAMED practitioner, regarding a recent international phone conference held on March 18th with Catherine Hettich-Jensen, an ONDAMED practitioner in Denmark and how the ONDAMED helped Silvia’s son with his sugar cravings (to listen, go to: www.teleconferenceinfo.net):

This was the first time I hosted a conference call from our office in Southern Germany. We had a wide variety of listeners on the call from many different countries and states within the U.S. Step-by-step Catherine shared the smoking cessation protocol with us, which she had been using for the past 5 years on hundreds of clients….

We also spoke about ONDAMED’s success with sugar addiction in combination with simple nutritional counseling. I can tell you from my own experience, close to 10 years ago, I was concerned about my 2-year old son Benjamin, who had been on several courses of antibiotics for recurring ear infections. It was during my early years with ONDAMED, when I was still in the experimental and observational stages of this technology’s capabilities.

After having studied Rife, Locke, Lebedewa, and Clark, I decided to apply a candida-related frequency….I could not believe my eyes when I witnessed how Benjamin changed his cravings from cookies and chocolates to eating raw garlic and onions, green peppers, and celery.

We all know how antibiotics stimulate fungal growth; the good news is, that we are able to help the body’s milieu change by the simple application of ONDAMED ‘s specific field stimulation….By the way: Benjamin never suffered from ear infections again and my entire family has been antibiotics-free ever since ONDAMED “joined my family.”

For more information about the ONDAMED, you can visit their website at: www.ondamed.net.   For those who would like to make an appointment with Royal Medical Group for ONDAMED evaluation and treatment by a certified ONDAMED Technician, call (702) 938-5055.

STEM CELL SUMMARY 101 by DR DAN

On March 26th, I gave a lecture entitled, “Autologous Stem Cells for Health Optimization”.  I will let you know when this lecture is posted on my website and available for those who were unable to attend.  In the meantime, here are some points for you to consider:

1.   Stem Cells.  These can be found in all body tissues, except articular cartilage.  These cells can differentiate into other cell types.  Currently, one stem cell type (e.g., mesencymal cells) are being obtained for clinical use in humans from fat and bone marrow, although it’s not clear if such cells from different tissues are actually the same.  There is another lesser known source from which stem cells may also be obtained known as “peripheral blood”.

2.   Peripheral Cells.  There are about 16 different known types of stem cells circulating in your peripheral blood.  It is possible to measure the levels of these circulating cells.  Currently, there is a research protocol being used for this purpose in which Royal Medical Group (“RMG”) has agreed to be a participant.

3.   Germ Cell Layers.  There are three different types of germ cell layers (e.g., Mesenchymal, Endodermal, and Ectodermal), which are all found in human embryos.  Mesenchymal cells are known to be helpful for any tissues that develop from this germ layer such as connective tissue (e.g., muscles, fat), cardiovascular (e.g., blood, heart, vessels), and orthopedic (e.g., bones, cartilage) whereas Endodermal cells differentiate into internal body organs (e.g., lungs, gut, etc.) and Ectodermal cells differentiate into nervous system, sensory organs, skin, and related structures.  An embryo contains all three germ cell layers and some believe peripheral blood contains cells that can differentiate into all three germ cell layers.

4.   Autologous vs. Allogeneic.  The term, “Autologous”, means that a patient’s own cells are harvested and returned to that same patient.  The tem, “Allogeneic”, refers to cells obtained from a source (e.g., umbilical cord) other than from the patient himself/herself that are administered to the patient.  At RMG, autologous cells from a patient’s bone marrow or peripheral blood (incl. platelet rich plasma, peripheral cells, etc.) can be used.

For more information about peripheral cell therapy, can go to the website www.bioregenesisinstitute.com.  Hope this helps!

PROTECT against RADIATION FALLOUT from JAPAN

With the recent meltdown of the Japanese nuclear reactor, and prevailing easterly winds, it is only a matter of time before radiation reaches the western U.S.  Exposure could be as high as 750 rads by some estimates.  However, radioactive materials cause harm onlywhen antioxidants are not present in adequate numbers to absorb the extra free radical electrons induced by radioactive particles.  Nevertheless, radiation is like a sub-molecular fire.  There is a temperature above which even the best fire resisting protective barrier fails.  So it is with radioactivity.

In general, here’s what you should generally know about rad exposure and its effect on your health:

  •   80-120 rads:             10% chance of vomiting and nausea for a few days
  •  130-170 rads:            25% a chance of vomiting and contracting other symptoms
  • 180-220 rads:            50% chance of vomiting and having other severe physical effects
  • 270-330 rads:            20% chance of death in 6 weeks or a few months recovering.
  • 400-500 rads:            50% chance of death
  • 550-750 rads:            Nausea within a few hours; no survivors
  • 1000 rads:                 Immediate incapacitation and death within a week or less.

Here are a couple supplement suggestions for prudent people who wish to be proactive in increasing their protective mechanisms against the consequences of radioactivity:

1.    Antioxidants. Oxidation induced by radiation or any cause increases an individual’s daily requirement for protective antioxidants. Examples include natural vitamin E, vitamin C, B complex, vitamin D, CoQ10, Omega-3 fats, Glutathione, and bioflavonoids (e.g., colored fruits, vegetables, juices, etc.).

Protective Foods

  1. Sulphur-Rich Foods: Garlic, ginger, onions, broccoli sprouts, and eggs.
  2. Fermented Foods: Acidophilus, Kim Chi, Kombucha tea, sauerkraut.
  3. Herbs: Green and white teas.  Fresh or freeze-dried vegetable juices and fiber or pulp rich juices are recommended.  Stay hydrated with adequate water.
  4. Sea source foods: Sea vegetables or seaweed salad or watercress.

A prudent person would take the above seven supplement until at least six months after any exposure to radioactivity above usual background levels.  Most radio-activity slowly goes away or is removed from the body.  While few people contract cancer, the risk is reduced in proportion to comprehensive antioxidants available as needed.  Protective dietary and life style choices further reduce risk.

Use of Iodine

If there is a known risk of radioactive iodine I-131 coming through the area, then before it reaches you and for a few weeks thereafter it makes sense to block uptake of iodine into the thyroid gland.  This is a prudent protective strategy for acute situations.  Blocking the uptake of iodine into the thyroid by flooding the system with non-radioactive iodine and iodide is a helpful short-term strategy.  A serving of sea vegetables such as nori or kombu at each meal provides a similar amount of iodine and iodide.

Geiger Counter to Detect Radioactivity

It never hurts to be prepared.  If you are technical, a home Geiger counter is available to monitor the radioactivity in the immediate area of the Geiger counter sensor (e.g., home and surrounding environment).  For more information on a reliable yet modestly priced Geiger counter go to: http://www.x-tremegeek.com/portable-geiger-counter.html?&cm_mmc=Mercent-_-Google-_-NULL-_-3102300&mr:trackingCode=E197DD07-70DD-DF11-9C39-001517B1882B&mr:referralID=NA.

Additional Support

1.Radiat Environ Biophys. 1998 Oct;37(3):187-93. “Effect of natural beta-carotene supplementation in children exposed to radiation from the Chernobyl accident.”, Ben-Amotz A, Yatziv S, Sela M, Greenberg S, Rachmilevich B, Shwarzman M, Weshler Z.Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research, Haifa. ami@ocean.org.il.  Attempts were made to evaluate 709 children (324 boys and 385 girls) who had been exposed long-term to different doses of radiation during and after the Chernobyl accident and had moved to Israel between 1990 and 1994. Upon arrival, all of them underwent a check-up for most common clinical disorders and were then divided into three groups according to their residences (distance from the reactor) and the level of irradiation exposure: no radiation, <5 Ci/m2, and >5 Ci/m2, respectively. Blood serum analyses for total carotenoids, retinol, alpha-tocopherol and oxidized conjugated dienes in 262 of the children showed increased HPLC levels of conjugated dienes, indicating increased levels of oxidation of in vivo blood lipids in children from the contaminated areas. The levels were higher in girls than in boys. Some 57 boys and 42 girls were given a basal diet with a diurnal supplementation of 40 mg natural 9-cis and all-trans equal isomer mixture beta-carotene in a capsulated powder form of the alga Dunaliella bardawil, for a period of 3 months. Blood serum analyses were regularly conducted before supplementation to determine the baseline effect of radiation exposure to the children, after 1 and 3 months of natural beta-carotene supplementation. After supplementation, the levels of the oxidized conjugated dienes decreased in the children’s sera without any significant changes in the level of total carotenoids, retinol or alpha-tocopherol. Other common blood biochemicals were within the normal range for all tests and no statistical differences before or after supplementation of beta-carotene were noted. High pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) analyses for carotenoids in the blood detected mainly oxycarotenoids, and to a lesser extent, all-trans beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, but not 9-cis beta-carotene. Conclusion: The results suggest that irradiation increases the susceptibility of lipids to oxidation in the Chernobyl children and that natural beta-carotene may act as an in vivo lipophilic antioxidant or radioprotector.

2. Arch Environ Health. 2001 Jul-Aug;56(4):320-6.  “Dietary and clastogenic factors in children who immigrated to Israel from regions contaminated by the Chernobyl accident.” Kordysh EA, Emerit I, Goldsmith JR, Merkin L, Quastel M, Bolotin A, Friger M.  Department of Epidemiology, Faculty of Health Sciences, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer-Sheva, Israel. Kordish@bgumail.bgu.ac.il.  The authors evaluated the possible association between dietary history and plasma clastogenic factors in children who immigrated to Israel between 1989 and 1993 from regions contaminated by the Chernobyl accident. The authors compared questionnaire data about demographic variables, dietary histories before and after immigration occurred, and health status with clastogenic factor scores for 162 immigrants. Logistic regression analysis revealed a negative association between clastogenic factor scores and frequency of consumption of fresh vegetables and fruit among children < or = 7 yr of age during the postimmigration period. Intake of eggs and fish by boys who were < or = 7 yr of age prior to immigration was associated positively with clastogenic factor scores. Conclusion: Consumption of fresh vegetables and fruits afforded protection to the immune systems of children who were < or = 7 yr of age.

Adaptogen complex corrects nutritional deficiencies!

In 2010, I, conducted a small clinical study on 10 patients who took an adaptogen complex, known as “Protandim,” for three to six months. Protandim is known to increase the body’s production of antioxidants. In this simple nutritional study, each patient took a pre and post SpectraCell MicroNutrient Test. An analysis of the results revealed that the patients’ nutritional deficiencies were found to correct by taking 1-2 tablets per day of the Protandim. These unexpected findings suggest the body may create nutritional deficiencies when antioxidant levels are inadequate. Moreover, one might also theorize that if the body has a deficiency in antioxidant levels, it will use other sources to make up for this lack resulting in a nutritional deficiency somewhere else. Therefore, as a result of the foregoing study, I am seeking to expand upon it for the purpose of further evaluating whether individual antioxidant levels can be optimized after nutritional deficiencies have been corrected. VACCINES “RESULT” in AUTISM

The government paid $1.5 million in one case linked below, but insists they never pay for vaccine induced autism. Read it to see how “newspeak” has to contort the language in order for the government keep up their lies about vaccine safety and Efficacy.

“The courts have to make the pharmaceutical industry responsible for making safe vaccines instead of relying on this phony vaccine recovery nonsense to protect them from any liability no matter how out of date their vaccine production procedures and safety precautions have become” (Garry F. Gordon MD, President, Gordon Research Institute).

CALCIUM INCREASES HEART ATTACK RISK!

In July 2010, the British Medical Journal published a study entitled, ““Effect of calcium supplements on risk of myocardial infarction and cardiovascular events: meta-analysis.”  This article was the result of a collaboration of several researchers wherein an analysis of numerous studies revealed that people who are supplementing with calcium have an approximately 30% higher risk of heart attack.

Such risk was found in those who took 500 mg of calcium (or more) for at least one year in those with an average age of 40 years old.  The data was collected from 15 trials with over 20,000 participants and a mean duration of 4 years.  The risk was greater when calcium was supplemented without vitamin D.  Interestingly, these same researchers also found a smaller, but similar, increase risk of stroke and death from calcium supplementation as well.

What the study does not tell its readers is whether certain calcium supplements were found to be more detrimental than others.  Nevertheless, this should be a wake up call to physicians who blindly recommend supplements, and patients who take them, without considering the type of calcium being recommended and the purpose for such recommendation.  For example, if one has a calcium deficiency, the best supplement is calcium aspartate because aspartic acid helps with actual delivery of calcium to the cell. Moreover, the CANAX (Calcium Aspartate) supplement produced by Koehler Company in Germany is also enteric-coated so that the mineral is not destroyed in the stomach acid and thus, is delivered to the small intestine where it can best be absorbed.

Further, here are some other alternative considerations for calcium supplementation:

  • Calcium is needed to be in proper proportion with magnesium (1:1)
  • Magnesium (Aspartate) supplementation alone can help improve calcium levels
  • Vitamin D can help with absorption of calcium from the diet
  • Alkalinity decreases the body’s need to take calcium from the bones to neutralize acids processed nightly by the liver
